1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?
I went on tour. And it was awesome.
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make resolutions last year. Apparently, I’m not over that.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin Bethany had a son, Mason.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My friend Josh and my former teacher Mrs. Cooper both died this year, both at the hands of others.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, again. But many states!
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
My own apartment!
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 12, the day I flew in NYC by myself!; Sept. 25, the day the RF album came out (and its subsequent t-shirt); Nov. 27, my first day at the new job!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Wow. Maybe speaking to all of those crowds across the US. It was crazy.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Hmm…nothing specific. Not speaking up when I should…same old.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Let’s see, I sprained my wrist at some point this summer and am in my second week of “probably Bronchitis” now.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Oh, a “I’m Not Your Bitch, Bitch” t-shirt for my Mom. She loved it.
12. Where did most of your money go?
Into my savings account. Also split between health insurance & car payments.
13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Living on a tour bus, most definitely. It warranted a bonafide squeal.
14. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner
c) richer or poorer? Richer
15. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Traveling. I did A LOT, but I’d do it again.
16. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Being upset at things I couldn’t control.
17. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent w/ family.
18. Did you fall in love in 2007?
A little.
19. How many one-night stands?
Zero!
20. What was your favourite TV programme?
HOUSE!
21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.
22. What was the best book you read?
Tough. Probably the two by Nicole Krauss (Man Walks Into a Room and History of Love)

24. What did you want and get?
A cashmere sweater.
25. What did you want and not get?
Nothing.
26. What was your favourite film of this year?
Not a good film-watching year for me. I have high hopes for Juno.
27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 23 and I had to work in Louisville, KY…but it was awesome.
28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A little more of some people.
29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Hmm…dress it as I feel it, I guess.
30. What kept you sane?
My friends.
31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Britney kept it crazy, Jan-Dec.
32. What political issue stirred you the most?
No one issue this year. The same issues still exist, though I’m all about micro-lending this year. Through KIVA and FINCA.
33. Who did you miss?
My friends.
34. Who was the best new person you met?
Won’t name.

You might not win, if you don’t risk something.

Overall, it was a totally rockin’ year.

A few days off after a few days on. I have a feeling I’m going to miss this when it’s over. On the road, I keep waking up as we’re driving thick into Virginia farmlands. This has happened six or seven times and each time I catch myself staring out the window, watching the trees and the plots of land blend and mesh together until someone yells at a bad call in a football game and I come back into the bus reality.
I’m making small speeches now. In front of crowds of thousands. It’s almost a show in itself–for the crew at least: the proded consumption of multiple Red Bulls, followed by nervous walking/jumping/knuckle-popping, the handover of the microphone, and finally my instructional speech to the two-fisting, hat-wearing, just-as-excited crowds who (as it is) have to go through me to get to the pop-sugar-country-candy acts that come later. I’m the opening, opening act.
So, if I remember nothing else from this summer…let it be known that I did at least this one thing:

Went on a vacation by myself. To Florida for some much-needed R&R

Resolutions 2005 (Italicized = fulfilled)
1. Buy (at least) one CD w/ every paycheck
2. Make real grocery lists
3. Clean car every 3 months
4. Subscribe to a new magazine

Yes. My friend Angie had a daughter, Aria Belle.

Yes. My step-great grandfather, Doug. Two weeks ago. He was an awesome guy.

None! Bummer
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A new passport!
7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Hmmm…I started my internship on Jan. 9; saw Fiona Apple on Aug. 4; I graduated college on August 12; saw Lindsey Buckingham on Oct. 7
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduating college, I guess. Maybe getting my first real job?
9. What was your biggest failure?
Tough…not speaking up for myself enough. It happened several times.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Despite falling down stairs, no major injuries.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A car. And perhaps those J.Crew boots.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Hmmm. My parents. They offered to let me move back (& save money) while working my temp job.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My most-recent former roommate. Oh well.

To the bank! And various retail stores…

In chronological order: internship, fiona, job, graduation, thanksgiving

b) thinner or fatter? right now: no change
c) richer or poorer? richer! (not by much)

Running.

Thinking.

Well, I spent Christmas w/ my family. It was wonderful.

Hmmm…CSI: Las Vegas. Though I watched a lot of Little People, Big World

Tie…Elizabeth Kostova’s The Historian and Jonathan Franzen’s The Corrections
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Tie…Mute Math and The Weepies. Both of whom have been around a while and who I initially resisted but now can’t get enough of.

A car.
27. What did you want and not get?
An apartment in New York
28. What was your favourite film of this year?
Hmm…I’m not a huge movie-watcher, at least not current films. So, The Devil Wears Prada
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 22. I actually had to work a show, and spent the night w/ my sister. It was cool.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Leaving Tennessee. I’ve needed to do this for a while, so hopefully 2007 will be the year!
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Hmm…laidback. I bought lot more denim, but I really love sweaters and knee-boots over jeans.
32. What kept you sane?
My dog….and Vodka-Redbulls.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
N/A. I keep getting told I resemble the Olsen twins, so I’ve been a little more interested in finding out how so…but I wouldn’t say I “fancy” them…at all.
34. What political issue stirred you the most?
The genocide in Darfur, Sudan
35. Who did you miss?
Everyone.
36. Who was the best new person you met?
My new friend Alison (& related show people), got to know Jen & Kat, and the Labeling Deloris guys, the internship guys/gals

Don’t worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. - Mary Schmich
